Bud’s Fiction Blog

Welcome to Through Older Eyes, the fictional companion to Older Eyes – Bud’s Blog. The posts on Older Eyes are perspectives on life from an older point of view, touching on topics such as feeling older, marriage, family, and spirituality. Sometimes, though, they are just curmudgeonly rants about celebrities, sports, and modern day parents. As much as anything, though, Older Eyes is an exploration of what it is I want to write, and in a post entitled Fiction (inspired by Susan Breen’s book, The Fiction Class), I realized that I miss writing fiction. Bud’s Fiction is a step in that direction. Initially, I’ve posted some of my previous short stories, starting with my only fiction publication, Cameos.  You can find these under the Stories tab in the navigation menu. I’ll probably post on the fiction writing process and on some resources I’ve found, such as writing books and helpful websites, as I go along.

I recently decided to use Through Older Eyes as a place to develop a new piece of fiction based on a character I’ve come up with.   The plan is to do the process here, from draft chapters and character development. For the time being, the project has a working title, Complications, so you can find it in the Working Title: Complications tab in the navigation menu.   The What’s New tab provides a record of updates so you can follow along easily with my progress.

For now, each story will have a post of its own.   Because I anticipate serializing some stories (either because they are very long or I’m posting them as they’re being written) I’ve decided to follow the suggestions of the post Write a Book on WordPress Support to adapt to the reverse chronological order of blogging.   Longer stories and serialized chapter will have their own page accessed by a link at the end of an introductory post.

I hope you enjoy what you read here.   Comments … even critiques … are welcome, as are suggestions regarding the blog itself.  To start reading, click on Stories by Bud in the header or select a story under Recent Stories in the sidebar.
